Hendrik Edward "Henry E." Walvoord

(1875-1941)

Photo of Henry E.WalvoordHendrik "Henry E." was the sixth child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walvoord. He was born on June 8, 1875. He married Johanna "Annie" Lemmenes on September 21, 1899. They lived in Cedar Grove for a time and then lived in Milwaukee until 1914 when the family moved to a farm in the Scott Township of Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.

Annie was the seventh of nine children born to Bernard and Jennie Lemmenes. She was born on March 2, 1878 in Holland Township. Annie`s youngest sister, Lydia, married Henry`s younger brother Will.

Although the two Walvoord brothers had married these two Lemmenes sisters, the families seldom had time to visit each other because the farm was full-time work and Henry and Annie could rarely make the trek to Sheboygan City to visit their siblings. Henry and Annie had three children: Winfred, Jureen and Melvin.

Henry E. died on August 18, 1941 at the age of sixty-six. Annie died in Sheboygan on May 28, 1959. Both are also buried in the Walvoord Cemetery in Cedar Grove.

Winfred H. Walvoord was born sometime before 1905 and married Elda Flunker on September 10, 1927. They did not have any children. He died in 1961.

Jureen Langdon Walvoord is buried in the Walvoord Cemetery in Cedar Grove and lived from 1905 to 1934.

Melvin E. Walvoord was born December 20, 1907 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On September 6, 1930 he married Dorothy D. Obbink, who was born in 1913. Melvin and Dorothy had a son and a daughter: James Walvoord and Audrey Walvoord. Dorothy died in 1970 and Melvin died soon thereafter on November 30, 1972. Melvin and Dorothy are buried in the Walvoord Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
